Tummy Trouble

The last Tummy Trouble post was written on a bad day when I was experiencing a "flare" and still very unsure of what was going on. Since then I've had 2 more "flares", went to the doctor, and have being doing lots of research!! My eyes and heart have been opened to a new world that doesn't get the recognition it deserves...

When the days are long and filled with discomfort and seek to find understanding and strength. Through Instagram I came across the Spoon Theory and an entire community of "spoonies". This theory and all the people effected struck a chord in me and started a fire in my heart.

This way of describing chronic illness gave me hope in a way I wasn't expecting. You see, when you have an illness that can't necessarily be seen, it's hard for others to understand. One of the most common things said to "spoonies" is, "But you don't look sick."... I can't tell you how much it helps to share daily struggles with those closest to you. When they look at you with nothing but understanding in their eyes it takes the pain away for that moment.

Personally, I am on the journey of finding out which IBD is effecting me and I have a real desire to connect with others dealing with anything similar. There is power in numbers, a sense of family in communities, and who couldn't use some more prayer warriors? So, with that being said I will continue to write about my journey, continue to seek out other "spoonies", and continue to send out prayers for us all! I hope my story helps even just one person!
